MATAKOHE GUILD AFTERNOON
The Matakohe Guild members held a bazaar last Friday in tne public hall in aid of the combined churches Anglican and Methodist. Winners of competitions were; Iced cake, (presented by Miss L. Ball), Mrs G. Peake; fat lamb (presented by Mr Coates), Mr R. Dry and N. Leaf Junr.; Dressing Jacket, (made by Mrs Williams), Miss B. Sterling and Mr Edmanson; Turkey (presented by Mr Peake), Mr W. Erne. The nail driving competition was won by Mr A. Leaf. A game of Bobs was won by Mrs R. Coates.
Items were given by the choir, Mr Blomfield (song), Miss Bryers (solo), Mrs Peake (solo), Mr Meade (accordian solo), Mr A, Flower (song), Mrs D. Maclean (solo), Mr Thornley (recitation), Mr and Mrs Peake (duet). Miss Elva Leaf and Miss Joyce Saunders (pianoforte duet). The total takings for the afternoon and evening amounted to over £4O.
