Mr Joseph Chadwick, aged 79, died suddenly at his home in Remuera, Auckland this morning. In his prime Mr Chadwick was one of the best known sporting writers in New Zealand. He was for many years “Spectator” of the Christchurch Press.
The funeral of the late Mrs E. A. H. Simmons took place yesterday, the remains being laid to rest at the Maunu Cemetery. There was a large gathering both at the service in St. Francis Xavier Church and at the graveside, the services being conducted by Father Murphy. Many beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave.
