FARMER’S END
PRICES TOO LOW. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) STRATFORD, This Day. A farmer, Alfred James Smith, aged S:l, of -Cardiff, was found dead in a motor shed on his farm yesterday. A 'note was attached to deceased’s coat. It stated: “I don’t intend being responsible for making butterfat below cost, viz., fid to 7d. I will let somebody else try it. 1 am too old to take responsibility any longer.” A note was also found, written in shorthand, intimating where further letters to deceased’s family would be found. At the inquest a son said deceased had been despondent and had continually complained of the low price of butterfat. A verdict was returned by M r W. L. Jvennody, coroner, of suicide by hanging while depressed over financial worries.
