(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Being an off-day, there was not much doing at Ellcrslie this morning, the majority of the horses doing pace work on the sand and tan tracks. A number of two-year-olds and maidens were given harrier practice from thi> mile post, and sprinted a, couple of furlongs. The first lot comprised Morehu, King Musk, Chief Emerald, Caliente, Gay Rose, Aroha Mai, Red Flame, Sporting Song, the Lady Kerman colt, and the Surveyor—Te Moti gelding. They gave little trouble, and from a good start Morehu was soon in front and remained there, being timed to rim the distance in 25 2-ss.

The second time several of those mentioned took part, and the Tea Tray —Agnestes filly, the Gay Shiela—Miss Ruth filly, and Royal Appellant wore also included. Morehu again jumped away first, and ran a furlong in I3s. The two-year-olds were sent to the barrier for experience only, and were not intended to gallop fast. J. Tlio committee of fho Auckland Racing Club has decided to increase the prize money for its spring meeting by ir»o so vs, making the total 5500 sovs. The stake for the Great Northern Guineas has been reduced from 75b sovs to 000 sovs, and the following events have been increased by 50 sovs each: .Shorts Handicap, from 500 sovs to 350 sovs; Mitchelson Cup, from 050 sovs to 700 sovs; Flying Handicap, from 300 sovs to 350 sovs; Epsom Handicap, from 300 sovs to 350 sovs; Musket Stakes, from 250 sovs to 300 sovs; Liverpool Handicap, from 300 sovs to 350 sovs.

At. the summer meeting the stake for the Auckland Cup Aviil remain at .1500 sovs; the Railway Handicap at 750 so vs; the King’s Plate at 050 sovs; the Summer Cup at GSO sovs; the A.R.O.
