WHANGAREI HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. A light agenda faced members of the Whangarei Hospital Board at their monthly meeting yesterday, Mr J. N McCarroll presided over a full attendance, Avith the exception of Mr A. Finlayson, to Avhom leave of absence Avas granted. Bacteriological Charges. Bacteriological Avork done at the hospital has always been charged for at the discretion of the medical superintendent. Now that the board has taken over this department, and employs the officer direct, it has decided to draAV up an official scale of charges, Avhich Avill apply to all avlio use the service, except in-patients of the institution, The scale of charges noAV* brought into operation is considerably below that in force in Auckland. Coal Supplies. Notification was received from Mr J. F. Doel (the manager) that in a feAV weeks the Glenbervie mine Avill be closing down. Coal could be supplied to the hospital until the end of August, but no further guarantee could be given. * The question of arranging for a supply of coal Avas left to the chairman and engineer. Appreciation. A letter of appreciation Avas read from Mr -Morris, who avus an inmate of the hospital for a long period, stating that he was very thankful for the able treatment accorded him by Drs. Hall and Brnnnette. He also thanked the nn;,sing stall, whose kind care and attention, he said, Avere of the highest order.
