THIRD CRICKET TEST

WEST INDIES COLLAPSE WICKET SUITS BOWLERS. MARRIOTT IN GREAT FORM. (United Press Association—By ElectrU Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 14. When the final cricket test between England—who scored 312 on Saturday —and West Indies, at the Oval, was resumed to-day, a crowd of 12,000 saw the West Indians utterly collapse on a wicket apparently “tricky” from overnight dampness.

j Clark and Nichols made the ball ;bunip awkwardly. Headley was struck ifour times on the body. Barrow was j also hit on the arm. Clark secured the first three wickets, two of which were the result of catches at forward short leg by Bakewell, who stood almost, at the end of tiie bat. Marriott, whose peculiar medium paced delivery conceals his. break, cleverly accounted for Headley, and the tail-enders showed no capacity to deal with him. The Indians wore out in under two hours. Following-on, Roach and Barrow scored rapidly off the fast bowlers. The first wicket fell at 77, but when Headley again failed to get going the bowlers had the upper hand. At one stage only eight runs were added in half an hour. When stumps w r cre drawn, 22 runs were needed to save an innings defeat.
