THE INSTITUTE BUTTER PLAN
The' willingness of dairy companies in Northland to assist Women’s Institutes to advertise New Zealand butter in Britain has been a notable feature of animal meetings of suppliers held throughout the territory. The Maungaturoto Women’s Institute some time ago instituted a scheme by which each member of an Institute in the Dominion should send a pound of butter to a member of a kindred Institute in Britain. By means of this personal touch it is believed that New Zealand butter will be introduced —and favourably introduced—into homes which might otherwise not consider its use. There is no doubt that the scheme is an excellent one, and dairy companies have aethd wisely in undertaking to provide butter for distribution. Individual suppliers have differed regarding details, but the general principle underlying the scheme of the Women’s Institutes has been wholeheartedly adopted. Companies would he well advised to err on the side of generosity in making butter available so that the scheme may have a real chance to prove its value.
