Its centre is latitude 37, longitude 155. It is expected -that heavy weather will prevail over the West Tasman at | he week-end. ' ' Delayed by high, strong westerly winds for 24 hours, the Sydney Mam from Auckland will 'not arrive In Sydney until tomorrow.
HURRICANE HITS ISLANDS. ' FIVE PEOPLE DROWNED. MUCH MATERIAL DAMAGE. '(British Official Wireless.) (Received- 9 a.ro.) RUGBY, July 13. , The Colonial Office states that the hurricane which did extensive damage in Trinidad on June 27 passed about 100 miles south of Jamaica, but hit the Grand Caynian Islands on July 1. .. . - V. - The roads and bridges in the Clarendon area, Jamaica, suffered damage from the extraordinary rainfall, which amounted to 22 inches in 10 hours in some places. The gross cost of repairs is estimated at from £30,000 to £50,000. Five people were drowned.
