CURRENT WHANGAREI PRICES. Fruit. The arrival of a shipment of Californian oranges this week has given a further fillip to this market, and at 2/6 per dozen, a ready disposal is being effected. Bananas and apples are most plentiful, and the market generally denotes a healthy tone. Current quotations are as follow: Mandarins, 1/ to 2/ per dozen; Fiji bananas, 4d lb; Island oranges, 2/6 dozen; Californian, 2/6; Poormans, 2d lb; Apples, Dunns 3d lb, Delicious 3d, Granny Smith 4d, Sturmer 4d, Ballarats 4d, Red Romes 3d and 4d, Statesman 3d; lemons, lOd to 1/6 dozenj pears, Winter Coles 5d lb, Winter Nelis 5d lb; tree tomatoes, 4d lb; persimmons, Id and 2d each. Vegetables. Rhubarb has again made its appearance on the vegetable market, a small quantity having come to hand from Auckland, to be retailed locally at 4d a bundle. Lettuce is still scarce, only a few small lots being available.
