GOLD DISCOVERY
EXCELLENT INDICATIONS. SYDNEY, September 12. It. is reported that a promising discovery in quartz reefing has been made this -week on a new line of reef, situated near the foot of Eimmer’s Hill ranges, just out of Adclong, by G. T. Baker and sou. Some time ago they opened up the channel, and found beautiful walls, underlying sharply. There was little or no reef in the channel, but loose quartz rubble gave good prospects, at times up, to half a pennyweight to the dish in free gold. This shaft was put down some 20 feet, and free gold still continued, but the reef would not develop. This week they went further along the line of lode, and put a eosteeu into the channel, and just under the surface found good quartz studded with gold, both on the easing ami in the solid stoma Many specimens were brought into town last evening, and mining men aver it is the best stone, seen here for many years. It is too early yet to know whether it is the outcropping cap of the reef or whether it is just big quartz ‘-‘spuds.”
