NEW POST OFFICE WANTED

11l spite of: wintry conditions there was :iu attendance of; HI 00 at a public meeting last evening to urge upon tlic Goveriiiiieiit the necessity of an early eomniencomcnt with the erection of the new post otlicc and public buildings in Dunedin. The following resolutions were carried: —
That this meeting of Dunedin citizens (1) records its emphatic protest against the continued non-fulfilment of the promises of past and present administrators to erect, a suitable post and telegraph office, and also protest .against the inconvenience caused in transacting business under the present unsatisfactory conditions; (2) brings yet again under the notice of the Government the fact that its A'arious other departments in Dunedin are scattered and inconveniently situated, increasing thereby the cost of administration; (h) reminds the Government of the urgency of development work in a distinctly profitable department, so that a proportion of xmemployed skilled and manual labour may be absorbed; (4) demands that there should be no further delay in the erection of this long-promised building. The Mayor, Mr K. S. Black, afterwards telegraphed to the Prime Minister, the lit. Hon. G. \V. Porbes, asking him to receive a deputation.
