WESTFIELD STOCK SALE
BEEP VALUES STEADY. KEEN DEMAND POK, PICKS. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. An average yarding of beef met with a steady demand at Westfield yesterday and values were very firm at late rates for all classes. There were fewer heavy cattle, but the quality generally was excellent. Extra choice ox beef again sold at 38s per iOO lbs. Competition was* fairly keen throughout for an average yarding of sheep ad there was little or no alteration in values from late quotations. Lambs, of which there was an average yarding, found a ready sale at about the rates prevailing last week. The demand was keen and there was a ready sale at late quotations for an average yarding of pigs. The following prices were realised, last -week’s being bracketed:— Beef, per 100 lbs.—Extra choice ox, 38/ (38/); choice and prime ox, 35/ to 37/0 (35/ to 37/) ; choice and prime cow and heifer, 30/ to 34/ (30/ to 3 V); Sheep, per head.—Prime wethers, 33/0 to 38/9 (34/ to 41/); prime ewes, 27/0 to 34/0 (20/9 to 83/0); prime lambs, 21/0 to 33/ (24/ to 34/9). Calves, per head.—Runners, 112/ to 206/ (110/ to .170/); vealers, 58/ to 124/ (00/ to 129/). Pigs, per head.—Baconers, 71/ to 89/ (08/ to 91/); porkers, 40/ to 74/ (44/ to 78/); weaners, 0/ to 15/ (5/ to 12/); slips, 12/ to .19/ (14/ to 22/); large stores, 20/ to 20/ (25/ to 32/).
