TALLOW, HEMP, FRUIT, ETC. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE. -The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram dated June S from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: —

Tallow. —There was no auction this week. The market is very quiet with an easier tendency but there is no quotable change in prices. Fruit.; —The market has been quiet clluring the last few days, and prices are a little lower. 'The 'apples on the steamer Westmoreland landed in a fair condition, but the pears are variable, there being considerable .waste in Cornice and Winter Cole pears. Prices are:—Apples: Statesman and Cleopatra, .13/ to 1(1/ per ease; Dunn’s Favourite, 12/ to 14/(5: Delicious, Home Beauty, King David and Premier, 11/ to 14/; Jonathan, 11/ to 15/, Pears (sound fruit): Comice, 10/ to 15/ per single tray; Winter Cole, 4/ to 5/; Winter Nelis, 5/ to 7/ per single tray and 8/ per double tray.

Hemp. —Manila: The market is ea sier on large, output figures, and buyers are holding back. Closing values, “4” grade, for June-August •shipment, £.‘l7 10/. The output for January 1 to May 31 was 751,000 bales, against 507,000 for the same period last year. Slocks in Manila on May 31 totalled 208,000 bales, against 110,000 at the same time last year. Sisal: The market is easier, and the demand has fallen off considerably. For June-August ship. Tanganyika No. 1 is now quoted at £3B 10/, and No. 2at £37 5/ sellers. Mexican: Nothing is being offered. The nominal values are special brush £4l and good white £37. It is reported that production lias reduced considerably. Lm-a-tan stocks, 4000 tons against 23,000 last year. New Zealand: The market is quiet. The only business done is in small quantities from spot. The nominal value is easier in sympathy with others. Wool.-—The Bradford market is quiet, with a general lack of confidence. Now business is restricted to absolute necessities. Quotations for line quality tops art- ?,d lower, ami for pu-pared sorts unchanged.
