The air correspondent of the "Daily Chronicle” says that the first floating aerodrome designed as a fuelling station for the trans-Atlantic aeroplane service is being built in America, on behalf of an influential syndicate, which proposes to establish air mail 1 carriage between America, and Europe.

A new system of deep-sea mooring has been devised, and the top of the island will be flexible, so as to safely ride out the roughest weather. If the experiment is successful similar islands will bo .moored every few hundred miles between the United States and the west coast of Ireland.

T'lio first islands -nil! bo manned by small crews, suflreiont to refuel aeroplanes, but later larger Islands with •restauramts and sleeping rooms will bo established.

A representative of th? syndirate is now in Ireland in connection with a spliomp to make Ireland a terminal point of all trans-Atlan,tie air routes to Northern Europe,
