GENERAL BUSINESS.
1 The following matters wore included jin the general procedure at yesterday’s meeting of the Whangarei Harbour Board: — j ! MEETING DAY CHANCED. i 1 In the past the ordinary meetings j of the board have been held on thei third Friday of each month. Mr D. E. Young said that any other day would be more convenient for him than Friday, which, on account of his business, was very unsuitable. He considered that members should receive more -consideration than the staff. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided to hold the meetings on the third Thursday of each month. ONERAHI WHARF DEBT. The wharf at Onerahi, recently soeur ed by the Harbour Board, f'as worked at a loss of £3O ns 2d last month Revenue collected totalled £ol 0s 6d. working expenses amounted to £47 10s Bd, and interest and depreciation, £3.3 15s. REGATTA CUP. Mr N. P, Jack returned thanks for the handsome miniature cup presented to him by the board for twice winning the Harbour Board Cup at the Whangarei regattas. The letter was ed. WHANGARURU WHARF. The District Engineer, Public Works Department, in reply to the board’s representative, wrote that ho had arranged that future heavy shipments will be taken over the- wharf and stacked on the mainland at Whangaruru. The chairman reported that too much Public. Works -property iu the form of girders, etc., had been stored at the wharf. The reply was satisfactory. RESCUE EXPEDITION. For having sent the launch Kumi to the rescue of himself and his companions during the recent storm, Mr Ross Nelson wrote thanking the board for its action. The chairman explained the position. On. account of no other launches being available, the Kumi was sent to the rescue. The chairman’s action was approved, and it was 'decided to send letters of ■appreciation to Messrs S, Weston, A. D. Jack and the engineer. TUTUKAKA WHARF. The General Manager, Northern Steam Ship Co., wrote stating that his company was arranging to load quantities. of sheep and pigs at the Tutukaka Wharf, and requested that the board iu 'Conjunction with the settlers, complete the hand-railing of the wharf so as to prevent the» stock jumping overboard. The engineer will visit the locality and also investigate the question of buoys, etc. . WRECKED LAUNCH. Mr J. Carp, of Whangarei, enquired whether the board would undertake the work of salvaging his fishing boat which was driven on the rocks a I [Munro Bay, Whangarei harbour, j The engineer reported having soon Mr Earp i?i connection with the matter, which was left to the chairman and engineer.
