HOSPITAL HORROR

CLEVELAND HOLOCAUST

GAS FROM DECOMPOSED FILMS.

ENCIRCLING PIPE FILLED

(United Service.) (Received 10.11' iu.ni.)

VANCOUVER, May. 22

A Cleveland message states that decomposition of X-ray films creating gas, which either exploded by itself or was easily infiammaible, was responsible for the Clinic Hospital disaster, in which over 130 lives were lost. According to Government expert testimony before the coroner's jury, the clinic contained a four-foot, pipeheating tunnW, running entirely round the building. Gas from the decomposition of Xray films finally filled this pipe. A spark or explosion of some kind in the basement forced the gas hack through the tunnel, and a series of explosions followed up through every heating pipe through the whole building, permeating each roomy the hallway ami passage with poison gas more deadly than ■ any used in the war.
