A sensational trial of 17 men and two women lias opened at Ivnschau, Czeeho-Slovakia.
Tlio prisoners are .members of a gypsy band which terrorised Moldavia, murdering men, women and children on the
smallest provocation. The total number of victims is unknown, but the prosecution traced dozens of murders, some involving charges of cannibalism.
, Alexander Pillce, lender of the gang, confessed that he participated in cannibal orgies for two years. Other gypsies admitted that they ate human flesh when they were suffering from privations. References to cannibalism wore suppressed at the preliminary inquiry, but revelations are expected at the trial. Only the principals in the ease, lawyers and journalists are being admitted to the court.
