The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cablegram from its London office, dated May 17, advising SinithHold delivered prices averaged for the week ended that date as follows: — New Zealand wethers and maidens.- — Canterbury quality, selected brands, 56’s and under, 7d per lb; 57’s to 64’s, 6 l-8d 65’s to 72’s, 5 ,°.-Bd. Cheese.—New Zealand: White, 86/ to 87/; coloured, 88/ to SO/. 87/ is equal to approximately 8d f.o.b. Deliveries Now Zealand this week, 25,546 crates; in store, 154,637 crates, Australian: White, 85/; coloured, 86/ to 87/. Canadian: White, 104/ to 110/; coloured, 104/ to 108/. TALLOW, FRUIT, HEMP. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated May 17, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—

Tallow.—There was a quiet demand at auction at easier rates. Present quotations for spot are, per cwt: Mutton, fine, 42s to 42s fid; fair to good, 39s fid to 41s; dark to dull, 3fis fid to 375. Beef, sweet aml/or mixed, 40s fid to 435; fair to good, 37s fid to 40s

Fruit.—The stocks of Now Zealand on the market are almost cleared. Prices are about the same as last quotation. The Mataroa, Herminius, Middlesex and Coptic are due during the next few da vs.

Hemp.—Manila was barely steady during this week, but closed with a hardening tendency:—May-July ship ment, J grade, £37. Sisal is steady, but very little business is doing. JunoAugust shipment is quoted, No. I, £37; No. 2, £35 10/. The Mexican shortage for the year is eNpocted to be

60,000 'bales, and it is rumoured that prices will be advanced in duly. Present values are:—Special brush, £4l, and good white, £37. Xew Zealand was in little better demand at low prices, which sellers will not meet. Other grades were dull and. unchanged at last week’s rates. At the Franktoii sale yesterday an average yarding of all classes of cattle and sheep and a heavy yarding pf fat pigs were penned. Beef sold on a par with late rates, while sheep were slightly easier. Fat and store pigs maintained late rates.
