EMPIRE-WIDE SERVICES.
SUNDAY SPECIALLY CHOSEN
(United Service.) (Received. 11.4 a.m.) LONDON, May 20, The King’s Thanksgiving Day will bo on June 16,
Their Majesties and the Royal Family will attend Westminster Abbey, driving in state from Buckingham Palace. Similar services will be hold throughout the Empire. The date is the King’s own choice. He personally chose a Sunday, not desiring that Thanksgiving Day be a glorified bank holiday. Those in close (touch with the Court say that the King lias progressed’extraordinarily since his arrival at Windsor.
H.is Majesty will go to London a few da vs before the service.
Tho special Abbey service will be drawn up by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. A similar service will be held throughout the Anglican churches, other denominations choosing their own forms. The King will (traverse the main West, End. streets after the service, if his health permits.
