' CANTERBURY’S BAD YEAR

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Speaking at a meeting of the'X'anterbuiry Rugby Union Celebrations Committee, the chairman, Mr S. F. Wilson, said that Canterbury had done very badly at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union as far as dates for representative matches were concerned. It was probably the worst year in the history of the Canterbury Union in this respect. An effort had been made to get the North Island versus -South Island match for tho Jubilee Celebrations, but this could not be arranged.

The Australian Universities’ Rugby team of 23 players arrived today fit and well. The first match will be against Victoria College tomorrow and the team proceeds south to Christchurch in the evening.

The New Zealand representative team for the first test at Christchurch has undergone alterations, Henley of Otago replacing Anderson of Auckland.
