PRIMARY SWIMMERS
SPOUTS IN BATHS, SOUK (1001) RACING. Perfect: weather favoured the animal swimming’ sports of 1 lie Whangar oi Primary School, hold yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance of parents and friends. The preliminaries in the morning were witnessed with keen interest by Mr E. Longworth, Dominion Director of Physical Culture, who expressed himself as well pleased with the good physique and healthy lappearance of the children. Mr C. F, Collins, headmaster, performed a multitude of duties with great credit to himself, and his handicapping showed his familiarity with ‘lie progress in swimming of the children under his charge. It was largely on account of the fine handicapping that the finishes wore so close and the interest maintained. The bo‘on the baths are to the school was shown at the conclusion of the .sports, when the children wore allowed a short swim. The water, enticingly cool nn’d invigorating, was studded with little heads everywhere. In addition to the school staff, Messrs G, Reid and R. Gurr assisted in the conduct of the sports. Results of the races are as follows: Std. IV, Roys, 33 1-3 yards,—Athol Tebbutt (fisec) 1, Pat Wilson (scr) 2, Given Davis (2scc) 3. Time: 31 2-ssec. The winner showed very nice style, winding by a yard in a well handicapped event. Std. IV. Girls, 33 lb 3 yards.—Noel Jack. (lOsec) 1, Joyce Manson (ssec) 2, Linda Gurr (scr) 3, Time: . 39see.
