(From, Our Own Correspondent.) The work of erecting the electricity lines for installation in the district connecting with the borough is now in actual progress several of the poles being in position opposite the school grounds. Residents in the lower part of the district adjacent to the town are now confidently expectant of the installation of electric light and power, with all its' accruing advantages, within a very short time. Naturally all are expecting that when the first length of installation is completed there will be no long delay in carrying it right throughout the district, which will abundantly repay, and well merit its complete installation It will largely increase its value to the town and borough. It is a recognised fact that when this popular district is given the advantages -of electrical power it will be one of the town's most popular suburbs. TENNIS. The weather on Saturday afternoon was ideal for the opening of the tennis season. A large crowd gathered on the charmingly situated lawns and an enjoyable time was spent by everyone. ' Visitors came from far and near. Whangarci, Ilikurangi, Onorahi, Maungatapere and other districts were well represented. All entered heartily into the delightful recreation. It is anticipated that the forthcoming season will be highly successful. There are many interested members, with its former popular, president, Mill. 11. Hayward, 'and Mr F. 0. Barge, as honorary secretary. OBITUARY. A very largo cortege of relatives and friends followed the remains of •;he late Mr Oswald Petersen, of Manngataperc, to the cemetery on -the 28th inst. The deeeased was well and widely known, and, by his steady industry and kindly -nature, was deservedly popular. lie was keenly sympathised with in -the many adverse drawbacks he had unexpectedly to encounter. Very sincere sympathy is extended to his .young widow and relatives in the great loss they have undergone.
