DIXIELAND POOL

CITY COUNCIL CRITICISED. "DOG IX THE MANGER.” (Special to ‘‘Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Approval of the action of the Minister of Marine, in granting a license to the proprietors of Dixieland Ltd., for the construction of swimming baths at Point Chevalier, was expressed last evening by Mr T. C. Hobbs Jones, chairman of the Auckland centre of the New Zealand Swimming Association. ‘‘We consider that the erection of baths at Point Chevalieij will be a great boon to swimmers generally and particularly to the children of the districts which they will serve,” he said. "My association fully approves of the action of the Government in granting the permit and that opinion is endorsed by all swimming bodies in the centre. The value of the baths in encouraging the art of swimming and developing the physique of children should need no emphasis. If the City Council .is not prepared to provide baths, it should certainly not put obstacles in the way of those who are willing.”
