RUATANGATA NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) METEOROLOGICAL. The rainfall recorded for the month of October totalled 3.98 inches, the maximum fall being 1.32 inches on the sth. There were 10 days with rain. For the corresponding month last year the rainfall totalled 8.03 inches, the maximum fall being 1.51 inches on the 2nd, and rahi fell upon IS days. With the exception of the cold snap experienced about the 24th of tho month, when light frosts and cold hailstone showers were in evidence, the month has proved quite good from a farming point of view, notwithstanding that the rainfall was less than the average. ' DISTRICT COURTS. The executive of the Whahgarei Winter .Show is endeavouring to reinstate the courts competition at their forthcoming annual fixture, and it will naturally create much interest throughout the Wairua Riding, and the residents will be found putting their best foot forward to retain the shield that they have won on the last two occasions. SOCIAL SIDE. Pictures with a dance following have for some time past been held weekly in our local hall, and it is now proposed to conduct these social gatherings fortnightly.
