THE DIXIELAND POOL
PARKS COMMITTEE PROTEST. INQUIRY REQUESTED. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Strong protest against the granting of permission to the management of Dixieland Cabaret to erect swimming baths at Point Chevalier was voiced at a meeting of the Parks Committee of the City Council yesterday. A resolution was carried urging inquiry into the matter, and copies are to be sent to the Premier, the Minister of Marine, the member for the district, Mr H. G. R. Mason, and all the local members of Parliament. The motion concludes: “The operations of tlie Harbour Board and recently of the Railways Department have deprived the public of a number of beach areas close to the citv. This renders the preservation of the Point Chevalier beach doubly necessary for thousands of city people, who take their pleasure there during the week-ends ami holidays. The committee, therefore, suggests that an inquiry be held before the peipetration of such an injury to the public interest as erection of baths ou the beach in front of Dixieland.
