Auctioneering Co. report as follows: At Franktou yesterday we had a good yarding of beef, fat sheep, fat pigs and a small -entry of store cattle and store pigs. Beef was slightly eas- .] icr. Mutton was firm at prices equal . to the previous week. There was no improvement in the price of fat pigs, but there was good eomqictitiou for .stores. We quote:— j Beef.—Prime heavy fat cows, £6 14s to £7 7s fid; lighter, £5 10s to £6 6s; prime fat heifers, £7 5s to £8 ss. No ox beef was yarded. Forward cows, £4 to £5 10s; store cows, £2 10s to £3 ss; 2-year Holstein heifers, £3 18s; choice Jersey dairy cows, £l2 to £l2 10s; springing heifer-s, £5 and £7; bulls, £3 to £6. Sheep.—Heavy fat shorn wethers, 25/6 to 27/; best shorn fat ewes, 18/9 to 19/5; shorn fat hoggets, 23/6; small fat shorn wethers, 24/5. Pigs.—Best baconer-s, £2 18s to £3; porkers, £2 4s to £2 8s; good stores, 35/ to 38/; wcaners, 15/ to 19/. BEEP AT WESTFIELD. AUCKLAND, This Day. Messrs Alfred Buekland and Son report that at the weekly Westfield fat stock market they penned 386 head, comprising 189 steers and 197 cows and heifers, compared with 427 last Wednesday. There was a keen demand throughout and last week’s advance was fully sustained. Extra choice ox sold to 31/- per 100 lbs, choice and prime 29/- to 30/-, ordinary and plain 27/- to 28/6, prime young cow and heifer beef 25/- to 29/-, ordinary cow 20/- to 24/-, extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l3 10/- to £l4 12/6, heavy £l2 to £l3 7/6, lighter £lO 17/6 to £ll 17/6, light £9 10/- to £lO 15/-, small and unfinished ‘ steers £6 15/- to £9 7/6, extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £9 5/to £9 15/-, heavy £8 to £9, lighter £6 15/- to £7 17/6, other killable cows and light heifers £4 10/- to £6 12/6. : i 5 > i
