DOMINION MARKSMEN. LEAVE FOR AUSTRALIA. A STRONG TEAM, WELLINGTON, This Day. Part of . the team of New Zealand riflemen left for Australia yesterday by the Ulimaroa to take part in the New South Wales National Rifle Association’s annual meeting, which will open on Anzae range, Liverpool, some 20 miles out of Sydney, on October 8. The object of these early visitors is to get in some practice before the meeting. Those who left yesterday were: Captain W. N. Masefield (Marlborough), T. Goodall (Wellington), W. J. Green and J. Matthewson (Hawke’s Bay), P, Higgs, A. Robertson and J. Turnbull (Taranaki), H. Reynolds (Christchurch), E. E. Yennell (Masterton) and C, Powell (Auckland). The following will proceed by the Makura, leaving Wellington on Tuesday: E. Ballinger, A. Ballinger and W. H. Ballinger, R. Caughley and H. Boon (Wellington), J. Carter (Manawatu), P. Sharlamd (Marlborough) and J. Henley (Canterbury).

The New Zealand team will enter representatives to fire in the Gordon Highlanders (service) match, which is open to teams from different Australian States and New Zealand, and will also enter a team to compete against Commonwealth teams in the Commonwealth teams’ match. It Is reckoned that New Zealand will be represented by a really strong team, including, as it does, the ex-New Zealand champions, Vennoll, A. Ballinger and Masefield, and a number of the Dominion’s best shots. —Press Assn.
