"FLYING DOCTOR”

AMBULANCE AEROPLANE, INLAND MISSION SCHEME. SYDNEY, This Day. At a meeting of the Presbytery of Sydney the Rov. G. Cameron Wood, convener of the New South Wales Council of the Australian Inland Mission, referred to the efforts being made to establish an aeroplane ambulance service in Central Australia. The A.1.M., he said, hoped early next year to commence its “Flying Doctor” scheme, towards the cost of which it was expected that £7OOO would shortly be in hand. It was proposed to station a doctor at a centre in Queensland, and arrangements had been made with the Queensland aviation authorities to transport the doctor to all parts where his services were required. An ambulance would be attached to the aeroplanes to enables sufferers to be conveyed to the nearest hospital.
