BOY SCOUTS
' MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The usual monthly meeting was held on Friday evening, when there •were present:—Messrs Geo. Bourne (chair), C. Bourne (secretary), J. Woolley, Fairburn, Humphreys A.S.M. Ferguson S.M,, and Rev. Steele and Mesdamea Steele, Meek and Mesaent C.M. The Scoutmaster and Cubmaster’s reports showed that troop and pack work is proceeding very (satisfactorily, and that a gqod number of Scouts have attained a very high standard of efficiency. The scoutmaster reported that Mr W. Humphreps, who for, the past few weeks had attended parades as assis-tant-Scoutmaster on probation, had shown great keenness and was a very willing and able worker. He therefore recommended the committee to sanction application for an A.S.M. ’s warrant from Dominion Headquarters. A lengthy discussion took - place concerning unauthorised persons who wear part Of the. Scout uniform, and its badges. As this practice tends to do the movement more harm than good, it was desired by the committee, that it ahould cease, as the Boy Scout Associations’ uniform is a registered article, ancl consequently can only, be worn by warranted officers and scouts registered at Christchurch. ? Parents of the boys and friends interested in this movement and kindred associations are reminded that a basket evening is being , held Fri-, day, 16th inst., at 7.30, p.m., in the Madeira Hall, Rust Lane. As this ifunctiou will be the first of its kind held by the troop for some time, and the forerunner of others, it is hoped that all will make an effort to be present, as by showing their Interest in this manner it greatly encourages and assists those -who are carrying on the great game of “Scouting for Boys. ” . The date of the annual meeting this year has been definitely fixed for sth October. An announcement will be made later.
