WHANGAREI HIGH SCHOOL
NEW ADDITIONS DISCUSSED. Yesterday afternoon a meeting of the Board of Governors took place on the ground at the Whangarei High School, there bfeing present: Messrs W. A. Carruth, H. 0. Eishworth, E. C. M. Harington, D. A. McLean, F. Higginson, H. W. Crawford, J. I. Wilson and A. B. Charters (principal).
The chairman notified the board that a plan of the site to be occupied by the now additions had • been received.
After careful examination the board approved the site, on the motion of Mr H. C. Eishworth, seconded by Mr J. I. Wilson.
| The plan of the proposed structure j was then discussed at length, and the j following motion was carried: “That j the plans’ for the additional four class | rooms, etc., be approved, in the main, j but the board suggest that the headmaster be provided with a room above the balcony between the two wings in j order that the room set aside for the 1 principal in the department’s plans might be used as additional cloak j room, the space provided in the detpartment’a plai s for this purpose bei ing quite insufficient.” j The board further suggested that j the stairway be brought adjacent to (the division between the two wings, i instead of at the far end, as provided lin the department’s plans. [ It was also decided to request the department to provide heating points! in the new class rooms and the principal ’s room. The site for the now prep, room was them considered, but it was decided to have the ground cleared before arriving at a decision. The chairman read a letter from [the department to the effect that the specifications for the new hostel were now being prepared and would be forwarded shortly.
