DIP ASSOCIATION. The annual .meeting of the above association, held in the Public Hall on. Saturday, January 80, was fully attended by members. Mr E. Berridge, president, occupied the chair. Mr A. Love, secretary, submitted a report and balance sheet outlining the work of the previous year and showing the financial condition of the association. j Outstanding accounts amounting to £l9 18s 7d were passed for payment, and £23 10s 6d was written off for depreciation, leaving the very satisfactory balance of £95 17s 2d to the credit of the association in the bank. It was decided to use the money accumulated in improving the yards and erecting an office on the association’s property at Waiotira. The collection of outstanding debts was considered, and a motion was carried instructing the secretary to endeavour to collect the same, author-, ising him to take legal proceedings! where necessary. ! The outgoing committee and officers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks and were re-elected for the ensuing year. WEST SCHOOL COMMITTEE, The above committee met on Tuesday evening to consider the question of half days for the month of February. The members were of opinion that the present indications did not point to excessive heat for the month, and also considered it unwise to permit the children to travel, in many eases long distances, to their homes in the hottest part of the day. ' They therefore instructed the teacher ' to keep the school open full time for the month, but gave him discretionary ■ power to close should he consider the ■ heat warranted a short day.
