MARUA
The Hall Committee held another of their successful dances in the Marua Hall.on Friday evening. The floor was taxed to its utmost, the dancers coming from Whangarei, Towai, Whakapara, Matapouri, Whanauaki, Otonga and Opuawhanga. The music was supplied by Cunningham’s Orchestra, extras being played by Mrs Hirtzel. Mr Swinbourne carried out the duties of M.C. in a capable manner. A committee of ladies handed round a dainty supper which was greatly appreciated. After supper, dancing was continued until the early morning, when, the i dance was brought to an end. The weather this week has been very changeable. Winds with occasional showers in the night have been blowing for a couple of days. The southerly winds have cooled the atmosphere somewhat, which is quite a change after the very hot weather of January. More rain is needed, as the pastures have a dried-up appearance. Some farmers are busy getting in green crops for the winter. The cream lorry still runs the six trips weekly, collecting cream from Whanauaki, Matapouri, Marua, Ngaruru and Tutukaka. Mr Tfoddy McDonald left last week on a motor trip through the North and South Islands on to the Exhibition in Duendin.
