THE PEOPLE’S COLUMN.
[Our columns are quite open to the pubFc for the discussion of matters of public concern. We invite correspondence, but do not identify ourselves with the views expressed by our correspondents.—Ed.3 EATING HOUSE LICENSES. (To the Editor.) -Sir, —As the "recalcitrant one” in question, I very strongly resent Cr Timewell's statement that the reduction of fee from £2 to £1 for the smaller eating-houses “was a matter of generosity.” In my opinion, which I am prepared to vindicate- before Mr Tate, iS.M., it was a very tardy and grudging move in the direction of justice, though a very long way from reaching that point, and a very different thing from generosity.—l am, etc., RIDLEY H. COLEBRObK. !
