BENEFICENT PLAN

SETTLEMENT OVERSEAS CHURCH ORGANISATIONS. OPERATING SUCCESSFULLY. (Received 10.7 a.m.) LONDON, February 4. The first report of the Church of England Council of Empire Settlement states that the Council’s earliest efforts have been directed to the - creation of an organisation overseas, controlled by the churches in the Dominions, for the reception, care and placing of newcomers. The report says that this has now been accomplished in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and is in progress of formation in Canada. It declares that requisitions, issued on a monthly basis, total 3355 individuals, and appeals to parishes throughout the country to secure suitable applicants.—Reuter.
