SCHOOLBOY SHOT
FATAL ACCIDENT AT GLASNEVIN I Thomas Henry McFarlane, 13 years of age, son of William McFarlane, farmer, of Glasnevin (near Amberley), was fatally injured on Saturday afternoon. He was out shooting rabbits with a cousin aged twelve. When they came to a gorse and wire fence, t McFarlane put the hammer of the double-barelled gun down, and leaned I it against the fence. He climbed t through, and then tried to pull the h gun after him. A hammer, was evi- t dently caught in the wire, for a cart- o ridge exploded, and the charge lodged in his thigh. The" other boy went to' I the father, and Dr, Thompson, of Am- 3 berley, was called. He arrived shortly C before the lad died. The accident p happened at about 3.30 p.m. g The District Coroner, Mr. H. A. I Young, held the inquest at Amberley t on Monday Evidence was given by 3 the father, the cousin, and Dr. Thomp- p son, and the Coroner returned a verdict of death through haemorrhage and shock, due to gun-shot. e
