BLASTING ACCIDENT
WORKER- INJURED.
BY PREMATURE EXPLOSION.
AUCKLAND, This Day,
An accident occurred during blasting operations on the Prince of Wales estate, Mount Albert, and resulted in George Hayden Smith, a married man, aged 43 years, of Enfield Street, Mount Eden, receiving injuries which necessitated his removal to the hospital. Two charges of explosives had been placed in the rock face when one suddenly exploded and hurled pieces of rock in nil directions. Smith was not facing the charges, but pieces of jagged stone struck him on the left arm and leg. He is progressing favourably.—Press Assn.
