PERSONAL. Mrs Lovell arrived from Auckland last Tuesday for a few days' visit to the township and is the guest of her mother, Mrs H. F. Hobbins. . Miss Trounson returned last wbok from Whangarei after a three days' very pleasant sojourn among friends. She attended her niece's wedding. After six months' residence among us Mrs Beehre went last week to take up permanent location in her new house in Whangarei. During her stay Mrs Beehre made many warm frienfi?, who will be sorry at her leaving.

Mr H. L.Hobbins, who for some time past has .been under the weather in the matter of health, proceeded to Whagarei recently for medical attention. Mr Hobbins is an inmate of a private hospital, where he is now progressing favourably towards convalesence after his operation.

After a holiday triji extending over seven weeks' Mrs A. V. Winchester returned home on. Saturday much benefited in health by,the change. A very jolly week was put in 1 visiting friends in Wellington, Mrs Winchester during the remainder of the time .being the guest of her sister, Mrs Burr, at Hastings. AN ACCIDENT. A rather alarming accident, fortunately unattended with serious results, occurred on Monday, June 29, on the county road. Whilst carting a load of < firewood and some bags of sand for j delivery, Mr R. Scott, in an attempt Ito save the animal's feet, took the horse off the metal on to the soft part of this road. This kindness to a dumb creature was rewarded by instant disaster. The clay was like glass. The horse's feet shot from under it J and came down with a crash. Luckily J Mr Scott jumped clear of the falling ' wood and was unhurt. Considerable j difficulty, however, was experienced ia I getting the horse clear of the shafts ' and once more on its feet. The animal is a valuable one, but beyond a few bruises escaped undamaged. PICTURES. j It is understood that Mr Hibbert, j who has been suffering from illness J for some time, is now on the way to complete recovery and hopes shortly to resume his interrupted series of picture entertainments in the Town Hall. '
