The game was open and fast and at times some nice passing bouts were indulged in. In the early stages it looked as though Hora Hora would have a comfortable win, but the Old Boys' play stiffened up a lot in the hitter half, the last quarter especially being mostly in' their favour.

Encroachment On the playing area by the public is still indulged in notwithstanding the efforts of the police to keep the side lines clear, and a lad received a slight injury as the result of a collision with players. Old Boys set up a frontal attack, Lamb being to the fore. "Wilson came to his assistance, but an infringement spoilt the movement. Shortly after Harris caught Ridings napping and a subsequent passing rush between Cains, Scott, Hollows, and Litt ended in the latter being thrown into touch withii? inches of the desitetT spot as time was called for the first quarter.

Old Boys' rearguard came into action first after the change-over with a splendid passing bout, but the transfer to Fraser was a difficult one. Wilson kept his co-backs on the aggressive and Sheriff had a shot from a penalty, but missed. The Old Boys' forwards were now combining better and with Drever at the head a determined sally was made on the Hora Hora line. Litt failed to field a cross kick by J Collins and Kerr relieved an awkward situation. T. O'Shea forced his way through the opposing pack, but J. Collins and Fraser turned the agression. McKay aided his side with a mark. His kick was fielded by Jones, who was penalised for lying on the ball and Dunn placed a nice goal.—'Hora Hora 9,' Old Boys 3.

Following the dropI out the Old Boys' reaiguard 'went to | the attack, the whole of the backs | moving and transferring with prei cision. C. Collins, however, over-ran | his pass. Clarke-Walker, Granville and Lamb kept play in the Iloia Hora zone and the ball was about a yard away from Hora Hora's line when time was called for the third quarter.

As a result of good work by J. Collins, Conygham, C. Collins and Ridings, Hora Hot a were compelled to force soon after resuming. Further promising rushes by Old Boys -were spoilt in turn by McKay and Conygham failing to transfer after having downed their men. Dqwiis had a, shot from a penalty within easy range, but did not succeed. Time and again Old Boys returned to the attack and Hora Hora's defence was being severely tested. Kerr, however, was equal to

all demands made on him. Jones at ! last raised the siege and hustled Hidings sorely, the latter saving by : "kicking into touch-in-goal. A little later C. Collins obtained possession in the vicinity of the half-way mark and set out at top for the line. He cleverly eluded three opponents and went on Ito score in a handy position. It was j a nice effort. Downs added the major, j points as time was called and the game ' ended—Hora Hora .17, Old Boys 14. I Mr Bowden controlled the game.
