The select Parliameutanj. Committee which inquired into the dingers arising from the carrying of concealed firearms 'recommends, excopt in the case of specially authorised persons, that the carrying of such arms bo absolutely prohibited under penalty of imprisonment ranging from one day to 10 years, and that the pointing of weapons be made a statutory offence. Parents are made responsible for Roys using pea rifles and for the safoty of other firearms in their possession. All sales of arms must be properly recorded. Statistics showed that between 1913 and 1920 inclusive there had been 417 deaths in Australia from the criminal use and 208 from the accidental discharge of firearms, besides over 500 persons seriously injured. —A. and N.Z.
