Fat cattle was th c only section in which there was a decreased yarding Values all round showed an advance, particularly for 'beef, which sold in some cases at about £4 per 1001b.
Stor e Sheep.—An improved yarding, both in quality and numbers. There was an advance in values, particularly for finer-woolled sheep showing , quality and condition, and for e\v e hoggets. Two and four tooth wethers made 345; ordinary 4 and 6 tooth wethers 35s to 36s .'id; good 4, 6 and 8 tooth withers 35s 7d to 37/10; aged low-conditioned ewes and lambs (all counted) 16s 3d; sound and fail-ing-mouthed ewes and lambs (all ■courited) 24s Id; failing-mouthed ewes, 26s 7d; superior 2-tooth ewes in lamb, 30s; good three-quarter-bred cw c hoggets 34s 2d to 35s 2d; ordinary half-bred ewe hoggets 29s 'Gd to 33s 6d;; superior half-bred ewe hoggets, 22s to 255; fairly good crossbred ewe hoggets, 30s; cull wether hoggets to 335; good half bred wether hoggets 30s; ordinary halfbred wether hoggets 28s 9d; ordinary
crossbred wether hoggets 26s to 28*
.Fat sheep.—An average yarding and the scarcity of beef caused a rise of equal to about 2 s 6d per head. Extra pi'ime wethers made 56s to 90s r.prime wethers 47s 6d to 55s 6d; medium wethers 43s to 475; prime ewes 41s 6d to 46s medium ewes 32s 9d to 40s 6d; light inferior ewes, 28s to 31s 6d; hoggets 29s 6d to 445; spring lambs (20 forward) 36s 6d to 445.
Fat cattle. —Tho yarding of 180 odd head was the smallest for some time, and much .below butcher's weekly requirements. Values jumped {substantially as a result, and prime beef was' quite 60s to 70s in advance of last week. Extra prime steers £35 15s to £40; prime steers £28 10s to £35; medium steers, £23 10s to t£27 10s; light and unfinished steers £17 to' £22 10s; prime heifers £19 to £23; ordinary heifers £15.t0 £17 10s; light and unfinished, £10 12s 6d to £14; extra prime cows, £25 7s 6d tprinie cows, £19 15s. to £23; ordinary cows, £15 15s to £19; light and unfinished, £10 10s to £14 10s. Vealers.—Runners brought to £9 10s; good vealers to £7 15s; medium calves to £4 2s 6d.
Store Cattle. —A poor quality yard, ing, which met with a weak demand. Three-year-old steers made to £12 ,10s; two-year-old, £9; empty heifers £4 ss.
Dairy cows. —Springing heifers to ,£l9; ordinary springers to- £15 10s; medium cows, £14.
Fat Pigs.—Choppers made £11 17s 6d; baconers £6 5s to £7; heavy •baconers £7 5s to £8 10s; extra heavy baconers, £8 15s to £10 15s; average •price per lb, Is 2|d to Is 3d; porkers £4 7s 6d to £5 2s 6d; heavy porkers £5 5s to £6 2s 6d; average price per lb, Is 4d to Is sd. Store Pigs.—A remarkably good sale was experienced there being keen demand for practically >all sorts. Best stores made to £5 ss; medium £3 10s to £4 10s; very small stores £2 10s to £3 ss; weaners £2 2s to £3 ss; sows in pig, 14s.
