A .SUM of £75 having been subscribed by a number of gentlemen anxious to encourage Dairy Farmers in the North to improve their herd's,' the following competitions have been arrangod by the Whangarei Agricul- • tural and Pastoral Society in connection with the Annual Show;— (a) Best Three Shorthorn Dairy 'Cows.—First prize £20, second £5, third £2 10s. (b) Bedt Thitee" Jersey Dairy Cows. —First prize £20, second £5, third £2 10s. (c) Best Three Frtiesian Dairy Cows. —First prize £20, second £5, third £2 10s. CONDITIONS: 1, (Entries close SATURDAY, October 16th, 1920. 2, At least four entries for each of the Classes from separate owners or no competition. 3. No owner restricted to number of entries. 4, Cows must reach ground by 10 a.m. on Second Day of Show, In the event of cows not being shown guarantee fund may be forfeited. Cows in these Classes can compete in other Classes. 5. A bond of £3 to accompany entry, to be refunded if cows are exhibited. 6. Should insufficient entries be received for any one of the three Classes the prize money will then be given to another Special Class to be decided by the Sub-commit-tee. «• JUDGING : Cows to be milked at home, evening and morning day (unknown to competitor) within a fortnight of the Show, in the presence of an official who will weigh the milk and take samples. Bottles will be sealed immediately. Testing to be done if possible under supervision of three local dairy factory managers. Results to be handed on second day of Show to judges, who will then make the awards according to their judgment, the production to be taken into consideration. * "Cows must be true to type in the opinion of the judges, but need not be Registered.
