On Wednesday, at out weekly Westfield fat stock market, we penned beef to the number of 285 head, comprising 183 steers, 91 cows and heifers, and 11 bulls. The quality was an improvement on last week. Competition was keen, with values firm. Extra choice ox sold up to £3 2s, choice and prime £2 16s to £2 19s, ordinary and plain £2 7s to £2 12s, rough £1 15s to £2; cow and heifer beef £2 2s to £2 12s per 1001b; heavy prime steers ranged in price from £26 10s to £30; lighter prime steers. £18 10s to £25; light prime £16 to £18; Unfinished £11 to £15 ss; smaTl steers £6 15s to £10 10s; heavy prime cows, £14 to £21; lighter prime, £11 to £13 15s; other cows £7 to £9.

There was less than an average yarding of sheep, and generally the quality was good. The demand was very keen, with a further advance on last week's sharp rise.
