HIKURANGI v. CONVENT.

At Hikurangi yesterday afternoon, amidst pouring rain, Convent played HikuKingi. In the first half most of Ihe attacking was done by Hikurangi, but the Convent's defence was solid, , only the speed and m - eight of the home team enabling them to score several times. The second half opened with, a fine passing run by the Hikurangi backs, enabling Cunningham to score a well-earned tiy. Play was now of a more even nature, but Convent lost chances by not following up and thus lost ground in their'kicks. The final whistle was blown .with Hikurangi attacking, the scores being Hikurangi 26, Convent 0. For the visitors, Penney played a sterling game, and he and Mason were aways to the fore. For tie home team tries were scored by the following players:—Wyatt (2), Goodhue (2), Cunningham (2), Hamilton (1), W. Harris (1 and converted).

Mr. W. George, as roferee, ably con trolled the game.
