GRANTS FOR NORTHERN SCHOOLS.
EXTENSIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS. £3,583 VOTED . At the Auckland Education Board's meeting yesterday, the following grants were notified as ibeing authorised by the Education Department. GLENBEIiVIE. For addition to school building, the full amount as requisitioned, £161, was granted, GRAHAM'S FERN. Amount as applied for f £179, was agreed for new site and removal of school thereto on condition that proceeds of site are transmitted to the Department. HELENSVILLE. For additions to teacher's house, as applied for, £75. HUKATERE. The amount as desired, £136 10s, for new site and removal of school thereto was agreed to. KOHANGA . For school building a sum of £572, and for a school site £50. The board was authorised to acquire the latter under the Public Works Act. MAUNGATAPEHE, Amount agreed to for new site and removal of school thereto, £520. (£540 was applied for.) WHATITIRI. The amount as specified in the application £763, was voted for school building.' TOWAI. £163, the amount desired, was ypted. for the removal of the Paiaka school to Towai on condition that the existing site is either (1) vested in the Crown, or 02) sold, and proceeds credited to the Department. WAIPU CENTRAL. An additional sum of £96 10s was allotted towards new school building. WHANGAE. An amount of £590 12s was applied for a school building, and grant. cd. PUHI PUHI. For the erection, of school building, a grant of £278 was authorised, the Department being of opinion that a site of two acres is sufficient.
