The past few weeks have seen a distinct improvement in the times taken for the transmission of press telegrams, says the "Newspaper World." With the demobilisation of the skilled telegraphists still retained in the forces, a return to pre-war efficiency may be anticipated! The latest types pf high-speed telegraph apparatus are being installed at the Central Telgraph Office. A Baudot instrument allows eight different messages to be sent simultaneously in either direction on one wire at thirty words a minute, which gives a line capacity of 240 words each minute.— B.T.
