Councillor J. E. Holmes was an cut-going passenger by the boat-train i o-day.
Mr A. MacGregor, headmaster of Onehunga primary school, returned to Auckland by boat to-day.
Mr Albert Hill, supervisor of the widely-known, magnificenjt Ellerslie racecourse and grounds, was a passenger in the outgoing boat-train to day.
Mr Wilfred Stead, the well-known horse owner, met with an accident at Hastings on Saturday. He was playing polo and fell from his horse, sustaining concussion of the brain.
Mr T. B. Warren, 8.A., who was an inspector under the Auckland Education Board prior to going on active service, has been appointed to a similar position in Wellington district.
Mr V. R. Meredith, solicitor for the Northern Steamship Company, who has represented the company in the recent, court case re damages to a launch in a collison, returned to Auckland to-day. Mr P. H. Graham, F.N.Z.1.A., Lie, R.1.8.A., who has been appointed Government House Expert, was trained at the London University College in fawn planning and housing. Hq has practised as a architect in New Zealand from 1907 to 1917, when he enlisted and went to the war from which lie has recenjtly returned to New Zealand. He will commenc c his duties with the Department on February 2nd.
