HUKERENUI.
On Monday, 15th inst, a pleasing function took place, when the residents of Hukerenui met at the Public Hall to bid farewell to Miss Rouse, on the eve of her marriage. During the past four years Miss Rouse has ably discharged the duties of postmistress, and her presence will be keenly missed. On behalf of the residents, Mr Hill took the opportunity of presenting the guest of the afternoon with a purse of money as a slight token of the esteem in which she is held by all in the district. Miss Broomfield also presented her old school-fellow with a handsome ibouquet, with suitable expressions for her future happiness. Mr L. Rouse responded on his sister's behalf. Afternoon tea was dispensed and the happy gathering terminated by singing "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow." i
