FOOD SHIPS SEIZED.
DIVERTED FROM POLA
(Received 9.30 a.m.) ROME,Sept, 25. An extraordinary act. of piracy is reported from Trieste.
A band of twenty Arditi volunteers officers and men, who had grown tired of waiting, decided to capture the steamer Vcntzia, carrying food to Pola. The volunteers at night-time boarded tho vessel in small parties. They mixed freely with the sailors and the fiftyfour passengers on the following morning, but when the steamer was noaring Pola about noon the volunteers took up positions at various gangways, while a group of officers sprang on to the bridge, and presenting revolvers, ordered the captain, who is a Croat, to steer for Fiume. The crew were similarly surprised, while an officer entered the saloon and calmed the passengers. The steamer arrived at Fiume in the evening and was received with enthusiasm, d'Annunzio granting the volunteers special distinction. —Reuter.
