DRIVEN TO DESPERATION.

WORKERS WANT DICTATORSHIP

(Received 8 a.m.)

VIENNA, Spet 22,

Serious disturbances occurred in the district of Totis, Hungary, where a number of inflamed miners proclaimed a proletariat dictatorship, disarmed the police, hoisted the Red Flag, wrecked houses, and maltreated the civil officials.

Later in the day five hundred gendarmes arrived and overcame the mutineers, after three hours' furious fighting. Seven people were killed and twenty-five wounded.

The incident is regarded as a sign of the growing despair of the worker. —Reuter.
