BENZINE CARGOES.

MR YOUNG'S ALLEGATIONS. ,

CONTRARY OPINIONS.

NAPIER, This Day.

A press reporter interviewed a num* ber of shipping and busines men on the allegations made by Mr Young, secretary of the Seamen's Union, against Napier steamers, concerning the loack ing and handling of benzine.

The steamers in question, the Koutunui and Kiritona, are stated to be insulated, there-fore their bulkheads must be airtight, and not open at the bottom as Mr Young alleges.

The opinion was generally expressed that any damage to tins was due to rough handling by the watersiders, who ridicule requests to be more careful. Fatal accidents are generally duo to this cause.-*-P.A«
